Install HTTPGlass on iPhone and iPad
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- An iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 18 or later
- A physical device. The capture engine relies on a real network extension and doesn’t run in the iOS Simulator.
Install
Section titled “Install”- Download HTTPGlass from the App Store.
- Open Settings in the app. There are two things to set up, and both are one-time:
- VPN: tap Install VPN Profile. iOS asks you to confirm adding a VPN configuration. This is what lets HTTPGlass see traffic from other apps.
- Certificate: covered in Install the root certificate. You can skip it for now and come back when you want to read HTTPS.
- Go back to the Traffic tab and tap the play button in the top-left corner to start capturing.
What the VPN permission actually does
Section titled “What the VPN permission actually does”A Personal VPN profile is the only supported way for an App Store app to see traffic from other apps on the device. Approving it does not send your traffic to a remote VPN server. The tunnel’s target is HTTPGlass itself, running on your phone, and captured traffic never leaves the device.
